Ooooh Happy WIAW! I guess this week is going by faster than expected, which is always a good thing! Enjoy some of my eats, although I’ll admit they aren’t all from one consecutive day..ooops. Well, only the lunch was different. :)
Prebreakfast- Crock pot season has arrived!! Fall. More fall posts to come, but how about a healthy stew with beans,...

Stevia
Is gross… I had high hopes that I would like the Vega whole health optimizer powder, but the stevia taste makes me want to throw up. Does anyone else have this problem with artificial sweetener flavor? I know stevia is supposed to be “natural” but it’s nasty!

What I ate Wednesday, #10
It’s time for WIAW! This morning when I woke up I was convinced it was Saturday, that was unfortunate, but at least it’s hump day! It was in the 90s today, I love October in San Diego!
Breakfast- Tea, yogurt, and an orange. Siggi’s was on sale at whole foods this week :)
Lunch- Salad with avocado, apples, and walnuts, topped with...

What I ate Wednesday, #9
Happy Hump Day everyone! It’s storming outside today, but I don’t mind it much, it fits the mood with me being sick and injured. Hasn’t been the best of weeks, I found myself with a re-pinched nerve in the back and some gross and evil cold. After sleeping all day I have the strength to bring you this post about my favorite thing ever,...

Really?
I woke up to this fake parking ticket today!
Its stupid and kind of mean.
I parked really well on the street when everyone else parks like a crazy person.
I don’t get it. I mean I know it is a prank but put it on someone’s car who actually parks mean or doesn’t leave enough space for someone to park. I’m kind of confused though because on the fake parking ticket...

Baking Wednesdays May Return
Some people bake when they are stressed but I tend to bake when I am procrastinating. :) In college I participated in a made up Wednesday holiday (Baking Wednesdays) which was designed to made the middle of the week just a little sweeter and give myself a study break from the engineering world.
So what am I procrastinating? The list is long: the real world, bills, unpacking, cleaning, going...

What I ate Wednesday, #8
This post was supposed to be for last week’s WIAW..but it wouldn’t work when I was in NY so I am posting it now! Stay tuned for NY and Boston Eats soon. I have over 1000 pictures to go through. Patience is virtue right?
Since I am in NY this what I ate Wednesday is from a day last week! I have yet to figure out how to blog more that one picture at...

Forget the tuna!
Leftover salmon? I really don’t like microwaving leftover salmon, it can dry it out and it is a tad bit depressing to eat dry salmon. My solution? Make salmon salad! Yeah I know mayo isn’t the best food for you, but occasionally it is amazing.
Directions- Add a tablespoon or two of mayo and mix with leftover salmon (canned salmon would work here too). Then add in chopped veggies of...
Vacation!
It’s almost vacation time! Not only is it my first real vacation with Ryan, it’s definitely my first long vacation in years! We will be spending 6 days in NY and 3 in Boston, and I should be packing but I am still itineraryizing :) I don’t usually make an itinerary for trips, but there are just so many food places I want to go that there is no time to waste eating food that...

When the lights go down in the city
As most people have heard or experienced by now San Diego experienced a county wide blackout. The blackout affected people in Arizona, Mexico, and up to Orange County. It was mass hysteria, I mean I was seriously freaking out about my ice cream melting!! Luckily our power turned on around 11 and everything was fine. Traffic was a nightmare to get home though, an hour and a half to drive 15 miles....

Holiday Weekend
Oh, Tuesday has found us. Woke up to rain??! Rain? What is this? Summer darted out as soon as Labor Day began. And Guess what? I am wearing white today. What is the deal with the no white after Labor day rule anyway? But, it really was an amazing weekend. Enjoyed hanging out, BBQing, eating, sleeping, playing games, cooking, and the weather up until Monday. Here is a small recap, since I am...

Soy please nooo!
So, all was going well in my tummy for a few weeks. The gluten free/soy free eating was working like a charm. I decided since I wasn’t having any tummy issues it was time to test the edamame. Well, Monday night with dinner I had a bowl of delicious edamame. All was great until tuesday afternoon. Since then my stomach has been in a knott. It is a horrible feeling, just like having a balloon...

The worst part is I have been driving around like this for quite some time now..uhoh

C210k Update
Today I completed W2D1 of the couch to 10k. So far so good :) My hip still bothers me sometimes but its not that bad it is just sore and weak. Friday I kind of cheated on the program. I went to the gym at work, but both of the treadmills were taken so I went to the soccer fields instead. And then halfway the sprinklers turned on..
Luckily today no one was on the treadmill and I got the full...

Not Crying Over Spilled Yogurt
I love snacking! I just can’t help it. I’ll be at my desk just crunching away on something. Costco started selling those seaweed snack packs and I am addicted!
They are only 30 calories and are a perfect salty crunchy snack. Not very filling, but definitely addicting.
Yesterday before my C210k W1D2 workout I had two dough balls. I just felt like I needed a snack or I might end up...

I am really loving these posts, and they remind me that I’m about halfway through the work week :) Waking up this morning my hip feels a lot less sore so I am excited for day two of running! I am still doing well with gluten & soy free, next week I add in some edamame to test it, now here is what I ate…
Breakfast- Vanilla...

Couch to 10K W1D1
Yesterday I started on my new running goal, to work up to being able to run a 10k in 13 weeks. No, I don’t have an actual race or deadline, but I did get an App :) I bought the 3 dollar couch to 10k app on my iphone and started the first day yesterday. First though, I bought some new shoes!
The C210k program is a walk/run program that starts easy and gradually increases running time until...

What I ate Wednesday, #4
My stomach tends to disagree with me quite often. I often get stomach cramps and there is always a bit of a constant pressure/bubble feeling on my left side. So far I have not been successful determining which foods cause it, but I am definitely on a mission to get my health together! I am re-trying gluten free because it definitely seems to help this bloaty/crampy feeling I get when I eat too...

Everybody Starts Somewhere
Growing up I never really had any nicknames and I felt deprived of some secret club of people with nicknames. Then I went away to college and the secret club of nicknames still existed! AKA the world of Ultimate Frisbee. I still meet people to this day, two years after graduating college, that have a frisbee name with some grand, crazy story and their real names remain a mystery. Me, I never...

Colorful Caprese Salad
MMMMM…Summer. I have been enjoying the sun and reading and most of all cooking. Most people in San Diego do not have AC, which usually isn’t too much of a problem until your apartment is 83+ degrees inside. That makes turning on the oven a huge turn off, which brings me to summer salads. Cool, flavorful, refreshing and filling are all found in this summer salad. Normal caprese salad...

My CSA Box
Unfortunately some people don’t know what a CSA box is, even more unfortunate are those who don’t have the opportunity to get one. CSA stands for community supported agriculture. Many local farms will offer a variety box (weekly, biweekly, small, or large) of fresh, organic, seasonal fruits and vegetables at a reasonable price. It definitely isn’t for everyone, but if you are up...

What I ate Wednesday, #3
This week/month I am giving gluten free another go. I really do think it helps my stomach issues, so I am giving it another shot. So my WIAW is gluten free today! But, that is not super uncommon for me anyway.
Breakfast- Plain yogurt, homemade honey granola, gluten free cinnamon raisin bread
Lunch- Frozen/heated zucchini marinara pasta. I bought these...

A Fresh Take on Lasagna
Summer food to me should be fresh, simple, and easy to make. This was a quick meal I whipped up to use some summer veggies and my favorite heirloom tomatoes. It is layered like a lasagna but lacks the heaviness of tradition cheesy and saucy lasagna. The cheese I used on top is super thinly sliced smoked provolone, but you can skip it if you like, or top with your favorite cheese. Please note the...

Ceramics 7/28/11
Sometimes there are wins and sometimes there are loses. Today was definitely not my best day, but tomorrow will be better. Note to self: listen to your instinct and do not try something new on an important project. I know better, but I was on a roll and I left my intuition behind.
On a more positive note, my candle jar looks pretty cool!
and I made a bowl (which I may or may not attempt...

I can’t believe it has already been a week since the last/my first WIAW! Here it goes again:

Lunch- pita with avocado and cucumber
and another pita with leftover vegetable “lasagna”- made with tofu, eggplant, cheese, yellow squash, and tomatoes...

How to Grill Your Own Pizza!
I love love love LOVE pizza. You can ask anyone. I eat it just about every week, Ryan loves to point it out. I just can’t help it. It is probably my favorite food and I don’t really like to pick favorites. I don’t have a favorite color or book or movie, but I do have a favorite food my dearly beloved pizzzzza! I would eat it everyday if I could, but I try to practice some...

Pinterest!
So yesterday I finally decided to check out pinterest. Yeah I know it is nothing new, but I think it is my new favorite thing. I am kind of obsessed. So far I dont have too much pinned but I made a DIY To Do List board, in which I will collect ideas for fun arts and crafts projects. Should keep me busy and entertained for the time being. I jump around a lot on things I want to do. Ceramics is the...

Weekend Round Up
Thursday night baseball game was fun, the free beer and food didn’t hurt
and neither did the amazing seats (sat in the picnic terrace)!
We could see the padres pitchers warming up right in front of us!
Even though the Padres didn’t win (we left when they were tied in the 9th) the birthday boy was sure happy :)
Friday morning we headed to bread and cie for breakfast and got...
